Katherine Helen Holmes

Katherine Helen Holmes, 97, of Freeport, passed away March 27, 2016 at Manor Court of Freeport. She was born February 5, 1919 in St. Peter, MN, the daughter of Alfred and Lillian (Anderson) McBride. Katherine married Lowell "Whitey" Holmes on December 18, 1943 in Freeport. Lowell passed away on August 3, 1992. Katherine worked as a secretary at Center School and as a Buyers Aid at Micro Switch. She was a member at First Baptist Church in Freeport. Her hobbies included bowling and golfing. She is survived by her three sons, Everett (Manami) Holmes of Blooming Prarie, MN, Tom Holmes of Dubuque, IA, and Jim (Carol Abbott) Holmes of Feeport; ten grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday April 1, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Everitt Holmes officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name.
