Karl Andre "Judge" Smith, 63, of Freeport, passed away, Monday May 18, 2020 in his home. Karl was born October 5, 1956 in Freeport, the son of William and Lucille (Yates) Smith. Karl was born with a handicap which resulted in him having seizures however this was not a setback for Karl, who was continually active in the community, particularly in his strong faith and love of the Lord as his savior. Throughout his life Karl fellowshipped and attended numerous churches throughout Freeport and the surrounding area. He is survived by three brothers, Melvin Smith of Danville, Illinois, Charles Hunter of Rockford, Illinois, and Vincent Smith of Freeport, Illinois; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in addition to the many friends he met throughout his short life. Karl's was preceded in death by his father, Willian Smith of Albany, New York and mother, Lucille Yates of Freeport. Karl leaves behind a lasting and loving memory in Freeport that will be deeply missed. "All powerful and merciful God, we commend to you Karl, your servant. In your mercy and love blot out the sins he committed through human weakness. In this world he has died; let him live with you forever. Through Christ our Lord.
