Karen A. Haas

Karen A. (Schardt) Haas, 66, of Freeport, IL passed away Tuesday August 1, 2023 at Ascension Living Saint Joseph Village in Freeport with her family by her side. She was born January 27, 1957 in Cuba City, WI to Gerald and Donna (Hammer) Schardt. Karen was a 1975 graduate of Freeport High School. After graduating high school Karen was employed at Micro Switch for 26 years. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Karen enjoyed bowling and she was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She also enjoyed cats and will be dearly missed by her cat Jake. Most of all, Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sons.

She is survived by her two sons Josh and Jessie Haas, both of Freeport; mother Donna Schardt of Freeport; three brothers David (Laura) Schardt of Cherry Valley, IL, Ken (Dana) Schardt of Oregon, WI, and Mark (Wendy) Schardt of Freeport; step-daughter Lisa Jones; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding Karen in death are her grandparents, father, son Jeremy, and nephew Malachi.

Funeral mass will be 11:00 A.M. Friday August 4, 2023 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Freeport with Father Peter Snieg officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial has been established in Karen’s memory.
