Joyce E. Kaiser, 89, of Freeport, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Stephenson Nursing Center. Born February 23, 1924, in Pearl City, she was the daughter of Elery and Mabel (Olthoff) Yeager. On January 31, 1947, she married Harold W. Kaiser, in St. John's United Church of Christ, Freeport. Mrs. Kaiser worked for Burgess Battery, Wittenmeier and Bangs, Freeport School District, and was the office manager for Freeport Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of St. John UCC, and former member of Ladies of the Moose, Monroe, WI. She enjoyed hiking and picking berries for her delicious jelly, dancing with Harold and friends, playing bridge and 500 in her card clubs, and chocolate ice cream. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by son, Stephen (Barbara) Kaiser of Rockford; daughters, Nancy (John) McPhillips of Dalton, GA, and Janet (Alan) Cunningham of Crystal Lake; grandchildren, Jeffrey McPhillips, Christine (Dr. Neil) Odom, Sarah (Andrew) Ziemer, Shay (Thomas) Cooper, Scott Cunningham, Andrew Kaiser, Matthew Kaiser, Katherine Kaiser; great-grandchildren, Ben Odom, Eliza Odom, and Owen Ziemer; sister-in-law, Carolyn Moyer, and brother-in-law, Robert Kaiser. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, parents, a sister, Eloise Manus, and a brother, Leon Yeager. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 21, in St. John United Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Ave., Freeport. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
