Joyce Cunningham

Joyce Cunningham, of Freeport, passed away, Thursday August 26, 2021, at the age of 83. Joyce was born November 28, 1937, the daughter of Lloyd and Verna (Groves) Richardson in Hamilton, Illinois. She was a 1955 graduate of Hamilton High School. On October 7, 1958, Joyce married Ray Cunningham, in Macomb, Illinois. Together they had two sons, David, and Kevin. They moved to Winslow, Illinois in 1959, then to Fairfield, Iowa in 1962, and finally to Freeport in 1965 where they have been ever since. Joyce worked for 27 years at Micro Switch (Honeywell) before retiring in 1995. Joyce loved to shop, read, do puzzles, square dance, and travel. Joyce also loved to make pies and often wondered how many she had made. To mourn her passing are her husband of almost 63 years, Ray; son, David; sister, Janet Lelm (Wally) of Metamora, Illinois; grandson, Kevin Jr. and granddaughter, Sarah Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Caitlin Cunningham of California; and several nieces and nephews. Joyce's last thoughts were of being in her heaven with her mother, father, son, Kevin, and sister, Betty. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Illinois. A memorial has been established for Driftwood Dialysis Center, Freeport, in Joyce's memory.
