Joyce Arlene Bull

Joyce Arlene Bull, 83, of Freeport, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at F. H. N. Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Freeport on July 20, 1929 to Warren and Anna (Brown) Scovill. 0n July 14, 1951, she married Warren J. Bull in St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Freeport. He died December 21, 1981. Joyce was a sales associate at J.C. Penney for more than 40 years and retired in 2004. She was a 1947 graduate of Freeport High School and served on numerous reunion committees. As a young wife, she was a member of the Stephenson County Home Extension Unit. Joyce was an avid sports fan and was often seen courtside supporting her children and grandchildren through the years. She enjoyed her swimming group and visiting the beautiful parks in Freeport. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Warren J. Bull, and her sisters, Jeanne Knipschield and Marje Kuehl-Bisping (Beloit, WI). She is survived by son, Dennis J. Bull (Debra), Pearl City; daughter, Kathleen A. Bull (Arlene), Walland, TN; brother, Richard Scovill (Sybil); grandsons, Brian J. Bull (Dawn), Lanark and Brandon D. Bull (Lisa); great grandson, Skylar Paulson, Lanark; great granddaughter, Allie Paulson, Sterling, great- great granddaughter, Ava, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass for Mrs. Bull will be Monday, 10:00 A.M. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Freeport. Msgr. P. William McDonnell, pastor will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. A scripture service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will also be Monday, 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill memorial Gardens, Freeport. A memorial has been established in her name.
