Joy Louise Thompson

Joy Louise Thompson, 80, of Ridott, IL passed away Friday September 30, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 17, 1942 in Freeport, IL to Francis "Shadow" and Virginia (Oswalt) Mordick. Joy married Larry Carl Thompson on February 16, 1963 at Second Presbyterian Church in Freeport. Joy was employed at Honeywell and retired in 1997. Her hobbies included baking with grandkids and making cookbooks, taking rides in the country, going to casinos with her husband, and most importantly spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Larry; son Nicholas Thompson; daughter Sherrie (John O'Connor) Thompson; sister-in-law's Jeanne Mordick, Mary Kay Bauman, and Pat Erickson; eight grandchildren Ashley (Nathan), Nathaniel (Dulce), Haley, Ginger, Colter, Bobbi Jo, Tyler, and Trevor; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding Joy in death are her parents, brother James Mordick, daughter Holly Thompson, granddaughter Sadie Thompson, and her mother and father-in-law's. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A time and place will be announced. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial has been established in her memory.
