Joy L. Ontjes

Joy L. Ontjes, 65, of Ridott, IL, passed away Thursday September 15, 2022 in her home. She was born August 22, 1957 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Walter and Barbara (Hicks) Petersen. Joy married Randy Ontjes February 29, 1992 in Rockford, IL. Joy attended Highland Community College where she earned her nursing degree. .She worked as an LPN and CNA for Van Matre Health. She attended Riverside Assembly of God Church in Rockford, IL. She enjoyed canning, baking pies, and attending bluegrass festivals. Joy is survived by her husband, Randy Ontjes of Ridott, IL; mother, Barbara Petersen of South Beloit, IL; daughter, Melissa Voldberg of Caledonia, IL; three brothers, Richard (Debi) Petersen, Michael (Helen) Petersen, and Steve (Dolores) Petersen; sister, Marsha (John) Gentry and two grandchildren, Zane and Kirsten Klaas. Joy was preceded in death by her father, Walter Petersen; and sister, Lori Davis. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday September 22, 2022 at Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church, 8210 E. Edwardsville Road, German Valley, IL. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Ave. Freeport, IL; there will also be a visitation from 10:00 until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Riverside Assembly of God Church.
