Jo'Vantae 'Tank" Ishmon

Jo' Vontae Armond Ishmon aka ‘Tank" was born November 27, 1990 accompanied by his twin Shovontae Ishmon (Twin B) to Stephanie Ishmon and Edward Charles Thomas, but was raised by Ollie Carter and Stephanie Ishmon. He entered eternal life Friday July 16, 2021 in Rockford, IL at Park Strathmoor Facility unexpectedly. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age of eight becoming a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ricky Stidmon. Tank enjoyed eating pancakes, playing basketball, soccer, fishing, singing, dancing, and hustling all of his family and family friends out of all of their money. Tank was an overachiever in school, clear on up until the time of his accident and even after. Once he was released from Children's Memorial left with many challenges to face, he still graduated from Freeport High School in 2012 with the help of Nurse Connie to whom we greatly appreciate and FSD for accommodating his needs. A special thanks to Mercy Healthcare for sending Nurse Melody to take care of Tank. Tank leaves to cherish his memories his mother and father, sisters: Shovontae and Tykieta Ishmon of Freeport, Il, Heather Thomas of Rockford, IL, God sister: Tanazchia Ishmon of Freeport, IL, God mother: Trishann Scott, Aunties: Bernetta and Katrenia (Steve), Uncles: Fred Jr. (JoAnn), Willie Sr. (Stacey), Angelo (Lois) of Freeport, IL, and Darrin (Patricia) of Rock Falls, IL Cubruthas: Darieon, Martavion, Mike Wallock and Willie Jr. Cusistas: Shanice, Quayvashia, Edriana, Bridget and Chessidy. "The Lucky 7" his nieces and nephews, special relatives: Ronald Brickhouse and Chris Brooks "Pops", Tish and DuVall and a host of cousins. Tank was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred Sr. and Floncie Ishmon, uncle Willie Jordan II and little cubrutha Te'Juron aka Scooter. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday July 24, 2021 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Freeport City Cemetery.
