Joseph R. Sorn

Joseph R. Sorn, 91, of Freeport, passed away, Saturday March 11, 2023, Manor Court, Freeport. Mr. Sorn was born March 20, 1931 in Freeport, the son of Lawrence and Frieda (Bornemeier) Sorn. Joe married Iva Jean Hofmeister in Rock City, Illinois, on November 30, 1952. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Joseph was member of First Lutheran Church. Mr. Sorn worked for Stover Steel Tank and Micro Switch. He always enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing softball n his free time. Surviving is his wife, Iva Jean Sorn of Freeport; daughter, Rhonda (Bryon) Manessier of Garland, Texas; granddaughter, Jacqueline Manessier; brother-in-law, Russell Miller; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Sorn was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, six sisters, and sister-in-law, Jane Miler. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday March 16, 2023 at First Lutheran Church. Pastor Keith Johnson will officiate. Visitation 9:30 am until the time of service at First Lutheran. A memorial has been established in Mr. Sorn's memory.
