Joseph Mckillip

Joseph McKillip, 80, of Freeport passed away Wednesday February 9,2011 at Manor Court of Liberty Village after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Joseph was born September 19, 1930 in Willow Springs Township, Darlington Wis. The son of Joseph and Delilah (Tubbs) McKillip. He graduated from Darlington High School in 1948. Joseph married Maxine (Klaas) on July 18, 1953, at St. Mary'™s Catholic Church, Platteville Wis. Joseph was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served from 1951-1953. He was employed by Crum & Forster for many years and retired from Kelly '"Springfield Tire Co., after 28 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and also a member of the VFW and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Joseph is survived by his wife. Two daughters, Kathryn (Bruce) Buckingham of Port Clinton ,Ohio and Barbara (Harold) Miller of Monroe Wis. And one son Michael (Julie Garrison) of West Des Moines ,Iowa. Seven Grandchildren, Eric (Emily) Buckingham of Kettering, Ohio, Jeff (Nikki) Buckingham of Centerville, Ohio, Brittany Miller, Twins (Jeremy and Chelsea) Miller all of Monroe Wis. And Jordan and Collin McKillip of West Des Moines, Iowa. Also surviving is a brother, Donald of Shullsburg, Wis. Three sisters Mary Murphy of Monroe ,Wis. Rachel Suthers and Sara Lange Flanagan, both from Darlington, Wis. One great grandchild, Ella Buckingham from Kettering Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews and many, many, friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, infant brother, sister Anna, brothers in law and sister in law. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p. m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home on Friday where a scripture service at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas'™s Catholic Church, Saturday at 1:00p.m with Monsignor P. William McDonnell officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
