Jonathon "Jon" E. Baker

Jonathon "Jon" E. Baker, 72, of Freeport, died Sunday October 9, 2016 at the VA-Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin. Jon was born on March 11, 1944 in Freeport, the son of Elmer and Kathleen (Burris) Baker. Jon and Linda Endress were married October 14, 1978 in Freeport. Jon proudly served for his country in the U.S. Air Force from August of 1961 through June of 1965. He graduated from the University of Denver Business School in 1969 and then went on to earn his MBA in Business from the University of Colorado. Jon worked as a Regional Manager for C.L. Swanson Corporation for 28 years before retiring on March 30, 2006. He was a member of the Freeport Eagles Club and Elks Lodge. Jon's favorite color was blue. Surviving are his wife, Linda Baker of Freeport; brother, Roger (Carol) Baker of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three nieces, Julie (Dave) Servatius, Karen (Mark) Brashaw, and Kathy Tobin; godson, Jonathon Robert Sanchez. Also surviving are four other nieces, five nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great nieces and nephews. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gene; and his mother and father-in-laws. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 15, 2016 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Deacon Dick Dinneen will officiate. Visitation will be Friday 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his memory.
