Johnny Morris Jr.

Johnny Morris, Jr., also lovingly known as "Baba Deer", 69, of Freeport, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday October 9, 2021. Johnny was born January 22, 1952, in Forrest City Arkansas to the late Johnny Morris, Sr. and late Mrs. Annie Mae (Allen) Ishmon. Johnny was employed at Kelly Springfield, which became known as Titan Tire until his retirement in 2018. He collectively worked for Titan Tire (Kelly Springfield/Goodyears) for 40 years. Johnny was full of life and energy. He loved being around his family and friends. He had a passion for exercising and being healthy and fit. He enjoyed doing yardwork to make things look nice and neat. He didn't mind putting on a good suit if the opportunity presented itself. He also enjoyed visiting his sister Annie's house knowing that his other siblings would be there, so they could hangout and enjoy each other's company. To know him was to love him. Johnny leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Diane Morris; his children, Johnny Morris III, Dasheka Morris, Chandra Morris, Anthony Morris, Latrice Newton, Tykiela Hughes, Jerod Hughes, Aissa Hughes, Bettina Clark, and Denise Ratliff; 30 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Annie Green, Virginia Allen, Nina (Willie) Ishmon, and Linda Gasper; four brothers, Will (Evelyn) Phillips, Jr., James (Monica) Ishmon, Jr., Davis (Teresa) Ishmon, and Wayne Ishmon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Morris, Sr., Annie Mae (Allen) Ishmon, and stepfather, James Ishmon, Sr.; son, Johnny Ray McGee; two sisters, Betty Ishmon and Gunetta Ishmon; four brothers, Carl Ishmon, Curtis Ishmon, Christopher Ishmon, and Carl Horde; and one great-grandson, Hunter Logan. Funeral service will be Saturday October 16, 20021 at 1:00 P.M. in Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
