John ”Jack” F. Gusloff, 88, of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday December 28, 2024 at WinnPrarie in Freeport. He was born December 1, 1936 in Freeport to Roy and Mary (Tracy) Gusloff. He served in the United State Army from 1956-1958 during the Korean War. Upon returning home from the Army, Jack married Myrna Townsend on September 12, 1959 in Freeport. Myrna passed away October 7, 2024. He was a firefighter with the city of Freeport from 1958-1987, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Jack also worked at Lassandro Beverage Distribution. Jack and Myrna were member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Freeport. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Jack took great pride in the tomatoes he grew. Most of all, Jack enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue (Greg) Anderson of Evergreen, CO; son Bradley (Wendy) Gusloff of Freeport, IL; five grandchildren; Caleb (Ana) Gusloff, Graham Gusloff, Victor Anderson, Will Anderson and Sam Anderson; and one great-grandchild, Jaxon Klaus.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, wife and sisters Norma Valkema and Lorraine Midthun.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday January 10, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Freeport. There will be no memorial, please donate to a charity of your choice in Jack’s honor.
