John Avampato peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at home on Sunday, February 18, 2024. He was born on February 20,1961, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin. He was a beloved husband to Judy for 37 years and the cherished father of four daughters, Brittany, Lauren, Hillary and Madison. John leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire and guide his family.
John's life was marked by significant achievements and unwavering commitment. He graduated from St. Edward's high school in Elgin in 1980 and went on to earn a degree in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University in 1984. Throughout his career, John excelled as the Vice President and Chief Information Officer dedicating 21 years to Newell and 18 years to Regal Rexnord. His hard work and dedication were instrumental in the success of both companies.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John's true joy came from spending time with his family at Lake Carroll. Boating, vacations with family and friends, sunset cruises on the boat and a great thunderstorm were all things he loved. John especially loved talking and laughing over family dinners which we had often. John was loved for being the perfect combination, having a tireless work ethic and being a humorous family man. He was the epitome of a devoted husband, father, and papa, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
John's impact extended beyond his immediate family. He was a respected member of the community. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and served on the Lake Carroll Finance Committee. His generosity, kindness, humor and unique personality touched the lives of all who knew him.
John leaves behind four adoring daughters and four sons in law who found a role model, mentor, and father figure in him. He is survived by his wife Judy, his parents John and Thelma, his four daughters Brittany (Philip Wise), Lauren (Brooks Morrison), Hillary (Jordan Pontius) Madison (Zachary Moyer) six grandchildren, Cooper, Parker and Asher Pontius, Mira and Navy Wise, Fitzgerald Avampato and his siblings, Janet, Joe, Margaret and Joyce.
In the hearts of those who loved him, John Avampato will forever remain irreplaceable. May his spirit continue to guide and inspire us all. We will be honoring John’s memory by continuing to enjoy the activities and traditions he cherished as a family.
