Joffre A Banderet

August 27, 1917 — February 21, 2012

Joffre A. Banderet, 94, of Freeport, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Stephenson Nursing Center. Joffre was born on August 27, 1917 in Straubville, North Dakota the son of Louis and Louise (Cochet) Banderet. Joffre served for the Army Air Forces in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. On January 18, 1964 Joffre married Betty J. Heilman in Freeport. Joffre worked at Burgess Battery in Freeport from 1964-1982. He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was very active and served as an usher. He was an avid baseball fan. Joffre also enjoyed working on his vegetable garden and canning. Surviving Joffre are his wife Betty Banderet of Freeport, son; Joseph (Laurie) Banderet of Freeport, two brothers; Raymond ' Bud" Banderet of North Dakota and Louie (Ruth) Banderet of Freeport. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws; Alice Banderet of Largo, Florida and Mable Banderet of North Dakota. Joffre was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Emil, Richard and Roger. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday February 24, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, Pastor Keith Johnson will officiate. There will be a visitation Thursday 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
