Joe M. Twigg, 93, of Forreston, died, Friday February 13, 2015 at Manor Court in Liberty Village. Joe was born on August 22, 1921 in Haldane, Illinois, the son of Linus and Annie (Long) Twigg. Joe married Dorothy A. Lewis on February 10, 1951 in Forreston. Mrs. Twigg passed away on November 16, 2009. Joe was a U.S. Navy-Marine Veteran (1943-1946) serving in World War II. This year, on February 19, 2015 will mark the 70 year anniversary that Joe and his brother, Lester landed on Iwo Jima Beach. Joe worked for the State of Illinois for 13 years and the Chrysler Corporation, where he worked for 21 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Forreston, American Legion Post #308 of Forreston and the Eagle River, Wisconsin, VFW. Surviving are son, Tracy (Roberto) Twigg of Cherry Valley; two daughters, Patricia Cockrum of Machesney Park and Janet (Don) Reuber of German Valley; brother, Lester Twigg of Eagle River, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Christopher Petta, Cassie Meinert, Kara Carpenter-Adcock, Denise Carpenter, Jennifer Harrington, Jessica Nemecek, Jollene Haney. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Destiny, Aidan, Emily, Martin, and Tyrus Joseph. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, two sisters, two daughters, Barbara and Linda; and son-in-law, Jim Wick. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday February 16, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, Forreston. Rev. Scott Ralston will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. There will also be a visitation Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Faith Lutheran Church and Forreston American Legion.
