Joann Marcum

Joann M. Marcum, 78, of Freeport, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born on May 4, 1933 in Freeport, the daughter of John and Ann (Mullen) Layton. Joann retired from Micro Switch in 1994. She married Max Marcum on June 9, 1956 in Freeport. He died on April 27, 1997. Joann was a member of St. Mary'™s Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joann also liked flowers, watching T.V., her home and her deck. Survivors include four sons, Mark (Pam) Marcum of Freeport, Dan Davidson of Rockford, Kevin Marcum of Freeport and Gary (Kim) Marcum of Freeport; two daughters, Pam Adams of Wisconsin and Sandra Berghaus of Meredosia, IL; one sister, Janice (Bill) Franz of Merritt Island, FL; also nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Jackie. Funeral service will be Tuesday 2 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
