Joann Cain

JoAnn K. Cain, 84, of Freeport, IL passed away Sunday March 3, 2024 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 17, 1939 in Everetts, Stephenson County, IL the daughter of Schyler and Lois (Stockton) Pierce. On December 1, 1956 she married Norman L. Cain Sr. in Leaf River, IL. Norman passed away November 25, 2008. JoAnn enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children Dennis L. Cain of Ridott, IL, Norman L. Cain Jr. of Ridott, IL, Susan Kay Schofield of Freeport, IL, and Deborah (Dave) Klages of Pecatonica, IL; two sisters Linda (Marty) Genkinger of Freeport, IL and Mary Beyer of Glendale, AZ; three grandchildren Stacy Schofield, Pamela (Kevin) Greving, and Jennifer (James) Chambers; six great-grandchildren Tyler (Sarah) Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Madyson Wilson, Jacob Chambers, Ethan Chambers, and Toryn Cain; and a step-great-granddaughter Fallon Speilman.

Preceding JoAnn in death are her parents, husband, two brothers Glen Pierce and Alvin Pierce, two sisters Mildred Cole and Leta Standeford, grandson SPC Norman Cain III, three half-sisters Gladys Moss, Veona Steck, and Irene Penwell, and daughter-in-law Carol Cain.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday March 9, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, with Pastor Rich Graham officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. There will also be a visitation Friday March 8, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be at North Grove Christian Cemetery in Egan, IL. A memorial has been established for FHN Hospice.
