Joan K. Wallace

Joan K. Wallace, 80, of Lena, passed away, Tuesday January 24, 2023 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Joan was born October 24, 1942 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick and Bertha (Green) Shoemaker. Joan worked as a secretary for Western States for 21 years, and was a manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Joan enjoyed bowling, dancing, and doing crossword puzzles in her free time. Surviving are son, Rich (Kayme Mathews) Wallace of Freeport and Michael (Mary) Van Matre of Green Bay, Wisconsin; two daughters, Cathleen (Gary) Jordan of Lena and Patricia Allen of Freeport; brother, Jim Shoemaker; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, two siters, Faye Werntz and Shirley Vrtol; and granddaughter, Denise Jordan. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 4, 2023 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in Joan's memory.
