Joan E. Jacobs

Joan E. Jacobs, 80, of Freeport, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at Manor Court. Joan was born April 7, 1938 in Massbach, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin and Elsie (Miller) Endress. She married Clifford C. "Cliff" Jacobs in January 1974. Cliff died January 25, 2018. Joan worked for Crum & Forster Insurance and Micro Switch/Honeywell. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, longtime member of Freeport Moose Lodge #162, and Freeport Bowling Association. She enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. Cliff and Joan loved to travel, especially to the Southwest (Arizona). Surviving are her son, Rick (Mary) Pierce of Freeport; stepson, Craig Jacobs of Freeport; stepdaughter, Ann (Kerry) Rippy of Freeport; sister, Shirley Christensen of Freeport; grandchildren, Sarah (Dustin) Heitter of Elgin, Amy (Cody Wool) Pierce of Freeport and Stefanie Jacobs of Freeport; great-grandchild, Savannah Heitter; four sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 29, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Pastor Keith Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday September 28, 2018 also at Burke Tubbs. Memorials can be made out to Friends Forever Humane Society in Joan's memory.
