Jesse L. Hall Jr.

Jesse L. Hall Jr., died May 23, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Rockford. He was born October 12, 1947, to the late Jessie and Bernice Jackson-Hall in Forrest City, AR. He was the second child of eleven children. Jesse accepted Jesus at an early age at the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Forrest City, AR. He moved to Freeport, with his family at the tender age of 18 where he landed a job at Burgess Battery, after the close of Burgess Battery he found employment in the janitorial business. Jesse was passionate about his family, friends, and entertaining others. He later joined St, martin Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Darnell Thomas where he became a deacon. Later in life he became an ordained minister under Rev. Charles Threadgill, Jr. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Jesse married the love of his life Verjenia Love on July 8, 1989. Jesse is survived by his wife Verjenia of Freeport, IL; children, Duane Hall of Atlanta, GA, Fredrick (Celeste Love) Hall of Machesney Park, IL, and Edward Love of Freeport, IL; sisters, Charlene (Willie) Graham of Freeport, IL and Christine William of Forrest City, AR; brothers, Lonell (Amanda) Hall and James Hall both of Freeport, IL, Isaac (Linda) Hall of Forrest City, AR; Kenneth Hall and Ronnie Hall both of Freeport, IL, and Lavern (Mary) Hall of Dubuque, IA; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosie and Dorothy Hall; and two grandchildren Deangelo Brooks and Jordan Love. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 2, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Threadgill officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
