Jerold Allen Peters

Jerold Allen Peters, 71, of Freeport, died Sunday April 30, 2017 at the Stephenson Nursing Home. Jerold was born July 3, 1945 in Freeport, the son of Melvin J. and Esther V. (Althoff) Peters. Jerold was raised on a farm in Pearl City, his family then moved to Freeport. He was a 1963 graduate of Freeport High School. Jerold served in the United States Navy from 1963-1967. He married Judith "Judi" Mosiman on August 16, 1968 in Freeport. Jerold worked as a realtor for the Siedenburg Group, taught Real Estate courses at Highland Community College, was an appraiser for HUD, and started, owned and operated Think Snow-Snow Removal. He was active in all of his children's activities, including coaching all three of his kids Little League baseball teams. Jerold was also a proud member of the Freeport Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, Judith "Judi" Peters of Freeport; three children, Jesse Peters (Jen Kloepping) of Freeport, Jaclyn Peters (Collin Greenfield) of Forreston, and Jaime (Josh) Westphal of Freeport; special family friend, John Hornbeak; five grandchildren, Cieara, Courtney, Sydney, Julia, and Aiden; and brother, Jack (Claudette) Peters. Jerold was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be 5:00 P.M. Friday May 5, 2017 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3:00 P.M. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs.
