Jenlyn "Jean" Luedeking

Jenlyn Jean Luedeking, 82, of Freeport, passed away peacefully, Saturday March 10, 2018 at home. Jean was born the daughter of Guy and Isabelle Stocks and grew up in Freeport. Jean graduated from Freeport High School in 1953. Jean then went on to attend Northern Illinois University where she obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degree. She began her teaching career in Lena-Winslow for 2 years. She then went on to teach History, Government, and was an Academic Advisor at Orangeville High School for 30 years before retiring for the 1st time. Jean then began working at Highland Community College as an Academic Advisor for 4 years until retiring for a 2nd time in 2004. Because of Jean's love and passion for kids and teaching she returned to teach that fall at Aquin Catholic Schools for and additional 7 years. Jean was always grateful for the opportunity to touch so many young people's lives. Throughout her many years in education Jean was very active in participating and volunteering in many groups such as the Servant Leadership Program, League of Women Voters, Shakespeare Society, International Relations, and a member of Prince of Peace Church. On January 15, 1955 Jean married the love of her life Wes at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Jean and Wes were married for 60 years. There was nothing Jean loved more then her family. She dedicated her entire life taking care of everyone she loved. Jean was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Jean was always a lifetime friend to anyone blessed to meet her. Jean is survived by son, James (Carrie) Luedeking, grandsons, Cole and Clay Luedeking. Son, Jerry (Laurie) Luedeking, grandsons, Jason Luedeking, Jordan (Kelli LaShelle) Luedeking, great-granddaughter, Keltie Jean Luedeking, grandson, Jerrad (Sylvia Trujillo) Luedeking, great-grandsons, Jax and Gavin Luedeking and great granddaughter, Ava Jean Luedeking, grandson, Devin Davidson. Special relation and love Tracy Ritter. Grandson, Wesley Reimers, granddaughter, Virginia (Brandon) Reimers, great grandkids, Vanessa, Melanie, Dayton and Memphis of Minnesota, and granddaughter, Gina Simler. Brothers, Jerry (Nina) Stocks, Joelle (Larry) Dunnwald, Robb Stocks, brother, Dave (Glenda Hensal) Stocks. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wes Luedeking; and daughter, Janis Simlar; and her parents, Guy and Isabelle Stocks. Memorial services will be 5:00 p.m. Friday March 16, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Pastor Katie Gallagher will officiate. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs.
