Jeffrey Albin Curry, 56, of Freeport, died at his home on Monday July 24, 2017. He was a beloved son, brother, father, teacher, and coach. He was born October 1, 1960 in Freeport, IL to Franklin and Barbara (Franz) Curry. He graduated from Aquin High School in 1978 and after receiving his teaching degree from Southern Illinois, he returned to Freeport to teach and coach for the next 25 plus years. He was unwavering in his desire to help others reach their full potential, yet he struggled with his own battles. The highlight of his coaching career was leading Aquin Girls' Basketball team to two consecutive state championships. The highpoint of his life was his two daughters, Tatum and Taylor. He was a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan and avid golfer, though he was called "Duffer" by many. He is survived by his mother Barbara of Freeport, his daughters Tatum (fianc Eric) of Madison, WI and Taylor (Brady) of Roscoe, IL, their mother Valerie of Rockford, brothers Brian, Doug (Laura), Todd (Maime) and Chris (Jessica), and one sister Melissa, along with twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Franklin and grandparents, Albin and Elizabeth (Lehan) Franz. Funeral services will be10:30 A.M. Saturday July 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Bolger officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with a scripture service beginning at 3:00; there will also be a visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
