Jeanette Irene Yeager

Jeanette Irene Yeager, 91, of Freeport, died Saturday May 12, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Center. Jeannette was born November 24, 1926 in Freeport, the daughter of Robert and Katherine (Miller) Mellnick. She married Donald Yeager on June 3, 1945. They had 53 wonderful years together before Mr. Yeager died on July 19, 1998. Jeanette lived and worked in the Freeport area all her life as a Licensed Practical Nurse, she also worked at General Casualty Insurance. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, motorcycling, traveling, and all-around country living! She was a member of Pearl City Rangers Saddle Club, Pearl City Snow Pearls, Pearl City American Legion Auxiliary, St. John Lutheran Church Mossback, and Zion Church of Freeport. Surviving are son, Dennis "Cleaver" (Bethany) Yeager of Freeport; adopted son, Larry Yeager of Pittsburgh, KS.; grandsons, Dillon (Katherine Ann) Yeager of Morrison, Jerime (Yeager) Kuhlmeier of Oregon, and Josh and Matthew Yeager both of Lena; brother, Wilbur "Jack" (Delores) Mellnick of Louisville, TX.; step-brother, Gary (Sally) Schrader of Lebanon, PA.; sister-in-law, Elinor (Bob) Becker of Freeport and Lucy (Bill) Lindsay of East Dubuque, and Jane Mellnick of Freeport; brother-in-law, Melvin Troxell of Lena; and Robert (Patti) Troxell of Rock Grove. Jeanette is also survived by forty nieces and nephews throughout the country. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Yeager; two brothers, William "Bill" Mellnick and Russell Mellnick; step-mother, Martha Mellnick; and step-sister, Mary Walters. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 19, 2018 at Zion Church (4292 West Stephenson Street, Freeport, Illinois 61032). Pastor Gardy Cronk will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Zion. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Jeanette's memory.
