Jean A. Folgate

Jean A. Spain Folgate, 68 of Freeport, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Jean was born on March 16, 1944 in Hollandale, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Dolan) Ryan. Jean married Joseph R. Spain on September 23, 1967. Mr. Spain died on May 9, 2003. Jean married Gary Folgate on July 19, 2008. Mrs. Folgate operated a In Home Day Care Center, worked as both a secretary and teacher'™s aide at St. Josephs Catholic Elementary School and also worked at the Y.M.C.A. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Jean enjoyed playing cards. She volunteered for the Freeport Appalachian Service Week and the Freeport Church Cooperative. Survivors include: husband: Gary Folgate, of Freeport, four sons; Steven (Debbie) Spain, of New Lenox, IL., Mark (Marsha) Spain, of Winnebago, Michael Spain, of Rockford, and Daniel Spain, of Bloomington, three stepsons: Steven ( Lisa) Folgate, of Orangeville, Robert (Michelle) Folgate, of Dakota, and Christopher (Shawn) Folgate, of Orangeville, one bother; Michael (Jeanie) Ryan, of Hollandale, one sister: Pauline Croninger, of Fon Du Lac, WI., five grandchildren: Ryan, Kaitlyn, Kayleigh, Marissa and Lauren Spain. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her first husband: Joseph Spain, one brother, David and one sister, Mary Burns. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Art Mallari officiating. Visitation will be Monday 3-7 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs with a Rosary service starting at 2:30. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at St. Thomas.
