Janet L. Obert

Janet L. Obert, 57, of Orangeville, IL, passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014 in her home after battling colon cancer for three years. Janet was born on August 11, 1956 in Freeport, the daughter of Earl and Dorothy (Wichman) Ackerman. Janet married Steve Obert on September 10, 1983 in Baileyville. Janet worked in medical records for over 30 years at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital. She also worked at Orangeville Community Bank and would help on the Family Dairy Farm. Janet was a member of Afolkey Evangelical Congregational Church. She served as Church Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent, and also was the pianist and organist. She was active in the School P.T.O. and Music Boosters. She enjoyed going to all of her children's music and sporting events. Janet was also a 4-H Volunteer. Janet also enjoyed cake decorating and cross stitching. Surviving are her husband, Steve Obert of Orangeville; father, Earl Ackerman of Pecatonica; son, Daniel Obert of Orangeville; two daughters, Kate (Jeremy) and grandson Levi Laskowski of Galena, Kristin Obert of Orangeville; four brothers, Richard (Faith) Ackerman of Rock City, Ron (Donna) Ackerman of Oregon, Charles "Chuck" (Theresa) Ackerman of Pecatonica, and Robert "Bob" (Paula) Ackerman of Pecatonica; sister, Bev (Roger) Hilton of Pecatonica; brother and sister-in-laws, Gaylon (Jeanne) Obert of Orangeville, Gary (Ann) Obert of Orangeville and Karen(David) Macomber of Lena; Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Ackerman and her father and mother -in-law, George and Edna Obert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday July 12, 2014 at Afolkey Evangelical Congregational Church. Rev. David Carr will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at Afolkey Evangelical Congregational Church.
