Jamon "Jake" L. Van Matre

Jamon "Jake" L. Van Matre, 36, of Freeport, died Saturday, November 7, 2015. Jake was born on March 21, 1979, in Freeport, the son of Darryl and Deborah (Gibler) Van Matre. Jake enjoyed motorcycles, BMX Bikes, fishing, and skateboarding. Jake's daughter Ella was always most important and came first in Jake's life. Jake was employed at H.B. Plastics in Freeport. Surviving are his daughter, Ella "EJ" Van Matre; father, Darryl Van Matre of German Valley; grandmother, Dawn Gibler of Pecatonica; brother, Shad (Stacy) Van Matre of Pecatonica; two nephews, Cory and Shayne; and loving companion, Jennifer Adler of Freeport. Jake was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Gibler; paternal grandmother; maternal grandfather; and paternal grandfather Homer 'Junior" Van Matre. Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday November 14, 2015 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
