James "Jim" P. White

James "Jim" Phillip White, 66, of Freeport, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family members on Tuesday July 11, 2017. He was born on December 28, 1950 in East Dubuque, Illinois the son of Robert and Arla (Bonett) White of Freeport, Illinois. Jim was a lifelong resident of Freeport. After graduating from Freeport High School, Jim joined the National Guard and worked as a Lineman for Commonwealth Edison from when he retired from after 35 years. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and remodeling his house, but his true love was watching his grandchildren play in a wide variety of sports. Jim was a loyal member of the Freeport Eagles Club. You would often see him driving around with his loyal companion, Pete. He is survived by his mother, Arla; daughters, Jennifer of Madison, WI.; and Michelle (H.Bernard) Shipp of Freeport; sons, Eric of Freeport and Corey (Vanessa) of Sauk City, WI; his brothers, Dennis (Cathy), Robert, and Michael; sisters, Mary Burns and Jody(Kay). Jim is also survived by his wonderful grandchildren, Keanna, Tiara, Logan, Madelyn, Mackenzie, Brady, Treyden, Brooklyn, Allesia, and Alexa; his dog, Pete; and many other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Robert White; his grandparents and nephew. A visitation will be held from 11-00 A.M-1:00 P.M. Friday July 14, 2017.at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home (504 N. Walnut Avenue, Freeport). There will be a luncheon following the visitation at Benchwarmers (2143 West Galena Avenue, Freeport). In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jim's memory and will be distributed to a variety of Jim's favorite charities. A special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Freeport Memorial Hospital for all the care you provided our father, and to Aunt Mary and granddaughter Keanna for making dad comfortable at home during his final days.
