James "Jim" M. Babb

James "Jim" M. Babb, 81, of Freeport, IL passed away Saturday March 27, 2021 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born May 28, 1939 in Freeport, IL to Melvin and Pearl (Rowe) Babb. Jim was a 23 year member of the United States Air Force upon retiring in 1980. On October 24, 2008 he married Carol Bookman in Las Vegas, NV. Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching the Dodgers play and using his colored pencils as a stress reliever. He was known to nitpick the girls in the family and enjoyed giving them a hard time. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandson Easton Soto. Jim is survived by: Wife, Carol Babb of Freeport, IL; Sons, Kevin (Michelle) Babb of Edwardsville, IL, and Bryan (Brenda) Babb of Belleville, IL; Daughters, Linette (Bob) Almasi of Burbank, CA, and Ani (Chris) Clayton of San Luis Obispo, CA; Stepsons, Brian (Tina) Bookman of Freeport, IL, and Scott (Sherry Hubbard) Bookman of Freeport, IL; Grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh Soto), Bookman of Freeport, IL, Kyle Bookman of Freeport, IL, Taylor Meyer of Freeport, IL, Megan Tomassian of Elmira NY, Allen (Christine) Almasi of Burbank, CA, Andre Almasi of Burbank, CA, Helen and Douglas Babb of Edwardsville, IL, Isabelle Clayton of San Luis Obispo, CA, Armen Clayton of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Sofia Clayton of San Luis Obispo, CA; and Great-Grandson Easton Soto of Freeport, IL. Jim was preceded in death by parents Melvin (Pearl) Babb of Freeport, IL. And brother Jerrell Babb also of Freeport, IL, and son Simon Tomassian. Private family graveside services will be held. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
