James "JD" D. Haas 72 of Freeport died on Sunday December 9, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 29th, 1946 to Wallace and Shirley (Phillips) Haas. On February 12, 1977 he married Bonnie Buss in Freeport. James was employed at Micro Switch in the tool and die department for 42 years, retiring in 2010. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was deployed to Vietnam from 1966 to 1967, receiving an honorable discharge in 1968 from active duty. James enjoyed target shooting, golfing, gambling and was a Minnesota Viking fan. Surviving are his wife Bonnie of Freeport, sister Pam (Gary) Huenefeld of Dakota; two sister-in laws Wendy (Rick) Hess of Freeport and Dawn (Ty) Marriott of Freeport along with four nephews Mathew (Stefanie) Kluck, Michael Huenefeld, Steven Huenefeld, and Matthew Huenefeld; three great nephews Caiden Parker, Miles Kluck and Sam Kluck; and special friends Skip and Sharon LaBorde. James is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Barbara Fransen. A time of gathering will be held from noon-3:00 P.M. Friday December 14, 2018 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home and immediately following the gathering, military rites will be accorded at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
