James Edward Ishmon Sr., 84, was called home on Wednesday February 26, 2014 after an extended illness. He was born August 1, 1929, to Leroy and Bessie (Young) Ishmon. He was born in Woodruff-Cotton Plant, Arkansas. James married the late Annie Mae Allen on January 14, 1956 in Forrest City Arkansas. During their union, they raised 14 children. James was employed at Burgess Battery, Structo, and Kelly Springfield Tires until his retirement on April 1, 1986. He enjoyed being around his family and friends. He also enjoyed eating out with his daughters and niece, taking strolls on his Hover round, but most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his brothers. James also enjoyed spending time with his second family and friends at the Hosmer Building where he resided. James was strong willed, but his daughter kept him motivated reminding him of all the things he had accomplished and concord in his life. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, three daughters, Annie L. Green, Virginia Allen, and Nina (Willie) Ishmon; seven sons; Will (Evelyn) Phillip Jr., Johnny (Diane) Morris Jr., James (Monika) Ishmon Jr., Curtis (Gwen) Ishmon, David Ishmon, Carl Ishmon, and Wayne Ishmon; brother, Leon (Argusta) Ishmon all of Freeport. Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a special friend Darlene Brooks, James was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Annie Mae Ishmon; two daughters, Betty J. Ishmon and Gunetta T. Ishmon; one son, Christopher N. Ishmon; two granddaughters, tow grandsons, and three brothers. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 8, 2014 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 920 South Carroll Avenue, Freeport. Rev. Rickey Stidmon will officiate.
