James D Piggues Sr, 67, of Freeport, IL departed this life on Monday, August 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. James was born on September 9, 1954 in Forrest City, Arkansas. He was son of Maudie Beatrice (Crump) Piggues and James Piggues. He was baptized at an early age. He moved to Freeport, IL at 13 years old, and graduated Freeport High School in 1972. He married Freda Wilson. In 1988, he married Terrine Bruce, to whom he was wed for the next 34 years. He graduated from the apprenticeship program at IRL Martin Academy and was then employed by Woodard Governor where he was a Test Technician testing and calibrating Air Craft Controls. He graduated and was certified by Black Hawk Tech as a welder. In 2000, he was united with St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he was not just an active member, but he was also very involved in the Sunday School Ministry. He was a faithful member of the Brotherhood (Men's) Ministry, where at one point he was the President. He was a member of the Laymen's Auxiliary of the Rockford & Vicinity Baptist District Association. He loved spending time with family, fishing and traveling. He leaves to mourn his passing: His wife, Terrine (Bruce) Piggues, as well as his son, James Piggues Jr., along with his daughters, Melissa (Johnny) Crosby, Bethany (Percy) Bruce-McClellan Jr, both of Freeport, IL, and Desirre Wilkins of Decatur, IL. He also leaves to mourn his two special cousins, Stanley Smith and Isaac Hall sr. as well his is aunt - Dorothy Piggues-Rucker. Brothers; Kenneth (Pearl) Williams of Flint, Michigan, and Barry (Judy) Piggues of Rockford, IL. Sisters; Verner Williams, Patricia (David) Ellis, Connie Jocelyn, Rikki Newton, all of Freeport, IL. Daneice (George) Benson of St. Louis, MO. Grandchildren; James Piggues III, A'kia Jordan (Kevin) Croom-Ausler, Malasia Jordan, and Des'sira Jordan, Ashley Bruce, Micah Bruce, and Ne'Dayasia Reed, Demetrius Henry, NiJahua Dandy, Rain Wilkins; Two great-grandchildren; Messiah Price-Alexander Bruce and JaMaud Anthony. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Emma McCoy and Algerice Horde, nieces; Jacqueline Horde-Bruce and Carla Horde, and his parents. 3 granddaughters; Danihea Ashford and Baby Ashford, and Tahlia Piggues. 3 nephews; Patrick Lucas, De'Andre Piggue, and Jimmy Whitehead. Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
