James 'Cap' Krueger, Jr. 85, of Freeport, died Monday October 10, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Center. James was born on September 9, 1926 in Freeport the son of James Sr. and Mabel (Morrow) Krueger. James married Dorothy Lamm on September 16, 1949. She died on January 30, 2003. James served in World War II. He was co-owner of K&S Manufacturing retiring in 1992. James was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club. Cap was a 1944 graduate of Freeport High School. He enjoyed all Freeport sports but especially watching his granddaughters play softball for the Pretzels. He was a former Commissioner of Freeport Little League. Survivors include; two sons; Donald (Karen) Krueger of Seattle, Washington and Jim (Nancy) Krueger of Freeport and three granddaughters; Gail (Tony) Presbitero of LaGrange Park, Illinois, Jaina Krueger of Freeport and Anna Rose (Chris) Clonninger of Sacramento, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday October 14, 2011 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial of cremains will be at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
