James A. Daws

James A. Daws, 76, of Forreston, died October 20, 2014, in Spokane WA. Born September 22, 1938 in Freeport to Royce and Harriet Daws. Jim grew up on the family farm outside Forreston. He was a member of the Forreston Fire Department from 1961 to 2006, and was Fire Chief for 28 of those years. Jim and his brother, Jack, ran Daws Trucking for 16 years. Jim then drove for Kaney Transport until his retirement. Following retirement from truck driving, Jim worked for Delmar Kampen at Kampen farms outside of Forreston. Survivors include son, Keith Daws of Waterloo, WI; daughter, Mary-Lyn (Keith) Austin of Spokane WA; brothers, Jack (Donna) and Jerry (Kristine) of Forreston, IL; grandchildren, Lindsey Austin of Spokane WA, Meghann Austin of East Troy WI, Jordan Daws of Blanchardville Wi and Jared Daws of Oregon WI; great-granddaughter, Mikayla Austin of Spokane WA; niece Tammy and three nephews, Mark, Jeff and Brian Daws. Predeceased by parents, Royce and Harriet. A memorial service will be Sunday December 21, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the Forreston Fire Department Building. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial of cremains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Forreston Fire Department. Arrangements were completed by Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston.
