Jack M. Fransen

Jack M. Fransen, 85, of Savanna, formerly of Freeport, died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Big Meadows Nursing Center, Savanna. Jack was born August 9, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of John J. and Frances L. (Scanlon) Fransen. Jack married Barbara A. Strum October 20, 1956 in Angola, Indiana. Barbara passed away January 26, 1997. Jack was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi River, attending Clinton LumberKing baseball games, and following the Chicago Bears. Surviving is his son, Stephen J. Fransen of Clinton, Iowa; sister, Grace (Bud) Franzoni of Atlanta, Michigan; four grandchildren, Jack Anthony, Jennifer, Steven and Trisha; also surviving are two great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Pat; and son, Scott. Visitation will be held 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Wednesday January 22, 2020 Burke Tubbs Funeral Home.
