J. Maxine Toelle

J. Maxine Toelle, 97, of Freeport, died Saturday August 10, 2013 at Parkview Home. She was born on May 7, 1916 in Glenwood, IA., the daughter of Elmer and Ola (Tuttle) Scott. Maxine was a secretary for Freeport School district 145 for 20 years. She married Alvin Toelle on February 14, 1940 in Clinton, IA. He died on April 12, 2006. Maxine was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening and playing Bridge. She was a seamstress and a volunteer at the FACC soup kitchen. Survivors include her son A. Dan (Linda) Toelle of Holland, MI; one daughter Carol Morgan of Freeport; six grandchildren, Danielle (Andrew) Manninen, Sarah Toelle, Stephanie Beale, Bradford Toelle, Aneshia Morgan and Jarek Morgan; eight great grandchildren, James, Jayla, Jaheim, Jaquaveon, Jameya, Janella, Paris and London; cousins; nieces and nephews, including Mary Sisler and Jackie Hawes who often called on Maxine Preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Don, Earl and Robert; one sister, Lois and one son in law Dennis Morgan. A gathering of friends, visitation and luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2013 at Parkview Home at 1 p.m. There will be a private family burial with Rev. Ted Michalsen officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
