Isabelle Silvia (Cary) was born December 28, 1922 at Global Hospital in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Elizabeth Cary. She went through eight grades at Ridott School; graduated from Leaf River High School in 1940; and later graduated from Freeport School of Beauty. She liked roller skating and ice skating, bike riding, 4H sewing, embroidering, playing dominos, camping, fishing, traveling, sending cards to everyone, going to craft shows, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She worked at Newell, Micro Switch, Freeport Memorial Hospital, Parkview Home and Cheesman Construction. Isabelle married Harold Mathiot March 15, 1941 at United Brethren Church in Dubuque, IA, by Pastor Russill in a double ring ceremony. They lived most of their lives in and around Ridott, only at war time it took them south for two years in Florida. Survivors include her son, Larry (Dawn) Mathiot of Cedarville, IL; her daughter, Faith (Gary) Heitkam of Galena, IL; his daughter-in-laws, Barbara Zuspann of Springfield, IL and Barbara Mathiot of DeForest; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and her two sons, Tim and Terry Mathiot. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday March 25, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL with Rev. Craig Conner officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.
