Irma Mae Sander

Irma Mae Sander, 95, lifelong resident of Forreston, IL passed away October 17, 2021 at Ascension Living St Joseph Village in Freeport, IL. She was born at home in Forreston, IL on June 3, 1926. The daughter of Manuel and Reka (Fruhling) Wubbena. She married Dean F Sander at Forreston Grove Church, Forreston, IL on April 18, 1947. Dean passed away February 21, 1992. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, Freeport, IL. She was the valedictorian of Forreston High School class of 1944. She was a bookkeeper for Sander's Locker, Lazarus Chevrolet/Buick, Clarence Anderson Chevrolet/Buick, Schmauss Chevrolet/Buick and a teller for Forreston State Bank, all businesses in Forreston. She was treasurer, Jr/Sr Sunday School department superintendent, Sunday School teacher, member of women's fellowship and senior choir at Forreston Grove Church, Forreston, gardened, reading and enjoyed her family. She is survived by 3 children, David (Suzanne) Sander of Cumming, IA, Ruth Sander, and Mary (David) DeMeester of Freeport; 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Elizabeth) Sander of Urbandale, IA, Laura Storjohann of Des Moines, IA, Steven (Stephanie) DeMeester of Ankeny, IA, and Andrew DeMeester of Loves Park, IL; 5 great-grandchildren Sydney, Isaac & Owen Sander and Addison & Kynley Storjohann. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, grandson Todd Sander, brother Andrew; 4 sisters and 4 brothers-in-law, Fannie (Carl) Ruthe, Mabel (Forbes) DeVries, Florence (Relman) DeVries, Lillian (John) Kerkoff. Also, 3 brothers-in-law Donald Sander, Fred (Bea) Sander, Donald (Carol) Walmsley; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Harry (Bernice) Roberts all from Minnesota. Funeral visitation and services will be held Friday, October, 22, 2021 at Forreston Grove Church, Forreston. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. until time of services, services at 10:30, and internment to follow services. Pastor Justin Coverstone of Grace Fellowship Church will officiate. A memorial has been established in her name.
