Irene D. Suess, 93, formerly of Freeport, died in her granddaughters home on Thursday June 2, 2011 in Lanark, Illinois. She was born on May 31, 1918 in German Valley, IL, she was the daughter of George and Ella (Eisen) Reints. Irene was employed by Rademakers Grocery Store in German Valley before marriage and then later on she was a Homemaker. She married Edmund Suess on June 30, 1941 in Holland Church Parsonage, German Valley. Irene was a member of Zion Church and taught Sunday School at Zion. Survivors include her husband Edmund of Freeport; two sons, Thomas (Barbara) Suess of Freeport and Kenneth Suess of Cedarville; two daughters, Sandra Sweitzer of Lanark and Suzanne Suess of Lanark; one sister, Gladys Mueller of Winnebago; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Tim) Bray of Rockford, Neil (Sonya) Suess of Pecatonica, Brian (Jill) Suess of Cedarville, Terry (Valerie) Sweitzer of Lanark, Connie (John) Hauptman of Lanark, Kevin (Lydia Weisel) Sweitzer of Lanark and Tiffany (Brian Benkert) of Freeport; eight great grandchildren, Lacey Bray of St. Paul, MN, Neil Thomas Suess of Pecatonica, Jessica Rodriguez of Freeport, Kayleigh Benkert of Freeport, Brandon Benkert of Freeport, Kole Hauptman of Lanark, Nicole Sweitzer of Lanark and Caleb Sweitzer of Lanark; also four great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gerald; one sister, Eleanor Johnson; two half sisters, Minnie Kilker and Marie Kappenman. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Zion Church 11:00 a.m. Pastor Gardy Cronk will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
