Irene Mae Jones

Irene M. Jones, 96, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024 at Parkview Home in Freeport. Born July 12, 1928 in Freeport, she was the daughter of Charles and Louise (Silbermann) Giles. On September 12, 1948 she married Richard K. Jones at St. Johns Church in Freeport by Reverend Utlaut. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1999. Irene graduated from Freeport High School in 1946. She worked for Furst-McNess for many years and retired in 1991. She also volunteered at FHN for several years. Irene’s greatest joys were her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was a very important part of her life.

Surviving are her three daughters, Cheri (Jeff) Kintzel, Karen (Jon) Roemer of Freeport and Kathy (David) Palmer of Durand. Her grandchildren, Dr. Lori Kintzel, Heather (Chris) Reinders, Sarah (Max) Rude, Emily (Devin Krontz) Roemer, Jacob Palmer, Rachel (Elias) Hoffman and Kate Palmer. Great grandchildren, Laila and Maicy Reinders, Jackson and Cohen Rude and Alaina Krontz. Also surviving are one brother Ed Giles of Freeport and sister-in-law Mary (Wayne) Bronkema of Pearl City.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Richard and infant sister Julianna. Also, special friend Eldon Cooke.

A special thank you from the family to the staff at Parkview Home and FHN Hospice for the excellent care that Mom received. They were so good to Mom and we very much appreciated that.

A visitation will be held at Burke -Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 1-3 PM. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for FHN Hospice in Irene’s name.
