Ida Mae West Prince

Ida Mae West Prince, 67, of Freeport, departed her earthly life on Thursday December 6, 2018 at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, Illinois, surrounded by her family. Ida was born September 16, 1951 in Sunflower County in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, to the late Doyle and Ida Lee (McGee) West Prince. She graduated from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa. Ida worked at Honeywell Micro Switch for over 33 years until her retirement, Ida was a faithful member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she served as Vice President of the Usher Board and was on the Missionary Board. She enjoyed watching basketball especially the Golden Sate Warriors and spending time with her family and friends and talking on the telephone. She enjoyed sitting on the bench in front of her home with her nephew Kiyren watching the rabbits and squirrels run by. Ida leaves to cherish her memory six sisters; Izola West McGee, Lula Mae Prince, Ella Mae (Leroy) Ishmon, Joyce Ann (Curtis) Robinson, all of Freeport, Illinois; Lucille Davis of Washington, D.C., Virginia Weatherspoon of Waterloo, Iowa; two brothers, Jake West of Freeport, Illinois and Bennie Kind of Rockford, Illinois; two godchildren, Kelly (William) Latham of Jacksonville, Illinois and Querell Shipp of Freeport; special friends, Nannie Edison, Mary Carter, Bernette Weems, Lorene Shipp, Celestine Shipp; special cousins, Mary McCain, Rosemary Bailey, Lula McGee, Dorothy Harris, Nichole McCain, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who she loved dearly. The family would like to send a special thank you to her devoted sister, Ella, Ishmon who was by her side for the past six years at doctor appointments, hospital and nursing home stays. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, three brothers, Junior west, Walter West and Willie Lee Holmes; nieces and nephew, Marcia Taylor Bankston, Bettina West and Obadiah McGee Jr. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday December 15, 2018 at St. James C.M.E.
