Henry L. "Hank" Schoenhard

Henry "Hank" Lee William Schoenhard, 65, of Dakota, IL, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 30, 2023 in his home. He was born April 10, 1958 in Freeport, IL, the son of Edward and Fern (Miller) Schoenhard, Sr.

Known for his huge heart and infectious smile, Hank's greatest passions were lending a helping hand to friends and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He worked as a laborer for Civil Construction Local 727 in Dixon, IL for 20 years, then at Mikron Industries for 19 years before retiring. He was a member of the Freeport Eagles Club and Moose Lodge. His favorite activities included camping, fishing, golfing, playing bags, and following the Green Bay Packers.

Hank is survived by his fiancée Annette Reemtsma of Dakota, IL; son, Nick Schoenhard of Rockford, IL; daughter, Kelly (David) Johnson of Darien, IL; stepdaughters, Kelly (Scott Fagerstrom) Kloster of Pecatonica, IL and Kayla (Mike Leitzinger) Kloster of Winnebago, IL; brother, Ed (Bobbie) Schoenhard of Savanna, IL; sisters, Bernice (Warren) Broshous of Shannon, IL and Joni Cason of Tucson, AZ; and five grandchildren, Troy Fagerstrom, Drake Fagerstrom, Kambrie Schoenhard, Owen Johnson, and Lillian Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karla Hiropoulos.

By Hank’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of his life will be held at the Freeport Eagles Club on November 4th, 2023 from 1:00 - 4:00. In lieu of flowers a memorial scholarship has been established in Hank’s memory.
