Helen Louise Myers

Helen Louise Myers, 85, of Forreston, formerly of Leaf River, passed away Saturday September 3, 2016 in Presence St. Joseph Center in Freeport after a sudden illness. The family appreciates the excellent care she was given there. Helen was born November 7th, 1930 at home in Oregon, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Jessie (Martin) Book. She graduated from Leaf River High School class of 1948. She married Glenn "Johnny" Myers on March 9, 1952 on the family farm in Leaf River. She was a housewife. Cooking, baking were her passions and she made the best sugar cookies you ever tasted. She also enjoyed canning, gardening and flowers and dancing to country music. Helen enjoyed the outdoors with Johnny, they belonged to Hitch & Wheel Pony Club. She lived her entire life around Leaf River and Forreston areas. She was a member of North Grove Christian Church in rural Egan, but was also loved by the church family of Adeline Zion Evangelical Church in Adeline. Survivors include sisters Dorothy Butt of Rockford, IL, Marjorie Genandt of Forreston, Mildred Samons of Orland, CA, and brothers Harold (Cheryle) Book of Byron, Glenn (Katherine Boos) Book of Leaf River and David (Linda) Book of Pecatonica, IL. She also enjoyed many, many nieces and nephews, family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnny on January 15, 2002, brothers Albert Book and Everett Book, sisters Doris Book and Delores Davis. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday September 7, 2016 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. Rev. Larry Jameson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will take place at North Grove Christian Cemetery Egan, IL. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Helen's memory.
