Helen G. Marshall

Helen G. Marshall, 86, of Freeport, died Thursday December 8, 2016 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Helen was born June 17, 1930, the daughter of Howard and Lula (Stevens) Givens. She married Rev. Dr. Timothy Marshall, June 17, 1957 in Lebanon, Missouri. Rev. Dr. Marshall passed away April 15, 1997. Helen worked at St. Joseph Provena for over 20 years before retiring in 1995. Helen was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist where she was the 1st Lady of the Church. She enjoyed soul food, playing the lottery, and following her Chicago Bears. Surviving are her sons, William "Butch" Marshall of Rockford and Timothy Marshall Jr. of Rockton, IL.; daughters, Carloyn Parker of Mansfield, OH; grandchildren, Rosevelt Williams Jr., Douglas Williams, Kim Lobscher, William Marshall Jr., Carmen Marshall, Joseph Marshall, Matthew Marshall, Barbara Howard, and Jimmy Tezlaff; daughter-in-law, Pam Marshall; faithful caregiver, Kristin Hall; and a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Frances A. Williams. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 17, 2016 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Stidman will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
