Helen E. Bastian

Helen E. Bastian, 81, of Freeport, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Helen was born October 30, 1936 in Stockton, the daughter of Elmer and Lida (Gates) Rogers. Helen married Robert L. Bastian November 5, 1955 in Polo. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Freeport Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #679. Helen enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning, playing bingo, and most of all spending time with all of her family. Surviving are her husband, Robert Bastian of Freeport; five children, Julie (Erick) Haddad, Vicki (Greg) Shadle, Eric (Jackie) Bastian, Kurt (Beth) Bastian all of Freeport, and Tina (Bill Jacobs) Bastian of Oregon, Wisconsin; brother, Gregory (Rosemary) Rogers of Colorado; brother-in-law, James Swain and Leonard Bastian; sister-in-laws, Karen and Mary Rogers; 16 grandchildren: seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews she loved with all of her heart. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, and her grandson, Zandyr. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 15, 2018 at First Methodist Church. Rev. Sean Huguenin will officiate. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday September 14, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
