Hazel M. Plager, 97, of Freeport, died, Tuesday, March 06, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center. Hazel was born December 16, 1914 in Shannon, Illinois the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Bremmer) Brinkmeier. On September 4, 1936 Hazel married Ira. R. Plager at First United Methodist Church in Pearl City, Illinois. Ira passed away on January 9, 1986. Hazel was a member of First United Methodist Church in Freeport. She was a housewife. Hazel lived in DeKalb, IL and Homosassa Springs, Florida prior to returning to Freeport after the death of her husband. Survivors include; two sons; Robert (Elaine) B. Plager of Freeport and Gary (Janet) Plager of Golden Valley, Minnesota, daughter; Barbara (Gene) Bradford of Genoa, Il. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Alyson (Brett) Halley Clive, Iowa, Juliette Serr of Kirkland, Washington, Cherie (Richard) Kraft of Hanover Park, Kris (Kenneth) LaCerda of Chicago, Phillip (Wendy) Plager of Rowana and Catherine Plager of Golden Valley, Minnesota, and 8 great-grandchildren Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters; Mabel Morning, Vera Jones, Minnie Paul and Viola Bolen. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Burial of remains will take place at Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb, IL. A memorial has been established in Hazel'™s memory.
