Hazel (Taylor) Crump was born on June 4, 1943 in Hermandale, MO to Conroy, Jr. and Aldonia (Pruitt) Taylor who both preceded her in death. She departed this life on April 16, 2018 at Provena St. Joseph Center in Freeport, IL. Hazel, most passionately known as "Doot" by her loving family and friends, was a very devout Christian who enjoyed singing, spending quality time with her family, and volunteering as the Coordinator for the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church food pantry. Hazel began her career with Burgess Battery Company and later retired from Honeywell. After retirement, Hazel enjoyed her free time cooking, visiting with family and friends, and yearly "Sister Trip" with her sisters. Hazel's beloved husband of 46 years, Earnestine "Steamboat" Crump preceded her in death. Hazel is survived by her son, Earnest, Jr. (Dora); grandchildren, Cherquette, Jermaine, Jerome, Jamero, Briauna, Jahill and Jadden; great grandchildren, Marah, King and Kali; sisters, Shirley (Euther), Ruthie (Johnny), Deloise (John), Inez, and Famie (Curtis); brother, James (Edith); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 21, 2018 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Antwon Funches will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at St. Paul. Burial will be in City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Hazel's memory.
