Harold "Bud" Glenn Albert, 89, of Freeport, died Friday June 16, 2014 in his home. Harold was born May 21, 1925, to David Howard Albert and T. Luella (Heeren) Albert in Freeport, IL. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1942. On October 13, 1951, he married Dorothy Louise Ruf in Rock Grove, IL. Bud farmed with his father until he married, then farmed south of Freeport until he retired in 2000. After retirement, he drove for Barkau Auto, and worked with Pro-Auctions. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church for 76 years. He was a member of the Stephenson County Beef Producers. Bud was a 4-H leader and loved showing cattle with his children and friends. He enjoyed bowling on several Freeport leagues and in his later years throwing horseshoes. Bud enjoyed following the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his sister Erma (George) Cunningham of Jefferson City, MO; his children, Blaine (Peggy) Albert of Reedsberg, WI, Wendy Byerley, Dean (Annette) Albert, and Lisa (Victor) Hoyer all of Freeport. Grandchildren, Dallas Zimmerman, Jessica Hoyer, Sarah Albert, Bill Albert, and Molly Albert. Great-grandchildren, Addalyn and Holly Jones; and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Dorothy Helen Albert and Miriam (Jack) Schimpf, his grandson Blaine Zimmerman, and two infant children. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday June 19, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Bruce Janes officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Silver Creek Reformed Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory.
